What type of items will I find at Greenberry House?
Greenberry House features quality hand dyed, hand spun and designer yarns and spinning fibers that are produced within a 200 mile radius of the shop in Meadows of Dan. A representative selection appears on the web site; there is much more available in the bricks and mortar store. Our yarns, rovings and fleeces are unique, often one-of-a-kind and many of our handspinners and farmers only sell their yarns through our shop, or only occasionally appear at local festivals and farmers' markets. Southwest Virginia and Northwest North Carolina is rich in a heritage of handspinning tradition. Our farmers raise alpacas, numerous breeds of sheep, angora goats and angora rabbits. Each and every farmer and artisan produces an individual specialty item.
We also carry quality commercial items such as Bryspun knitting needles, Chiagoo knitting needles, Greener Shades acid dyes, beautiful buttons, books, magazines, rosewood and bamboo knitting needles and lovely Lilly Sugar and Cream cotton yarns and Paton acrylic yarns.
I saw something at a show or at your shop; how can I find it?
The items in our catalog are broken down into categories. Yarns are listed by weight as well as by fiber content. At the top of the screen to your left you will find a search box that will locate items by name. If you check the box beside "Search in product descriptions" in the screen that appears after your first search the results will be more detailed. If the item you're interested in doesn't appear, please contact me. I do my best to list everything in the shop and at the shows on the web site but sometimes these lovely spinners get ahead of me!
How do I shop?
Just click on a picture or title, browse through the categories at the left, search through the "brands" (which are really just our farmers, spinners and hand dyers) or use the search box to find specific items. Clicking on the picture will bring up a detailed description of the item. Click on the picture again to see a larger version. if you like what you see click the button "Add to cart"!
How does the shopping cart work?
A shopping cart on a web site works just like a shopping cart in a bricks and mortar store; you add the items to your shopping cart so that when you are finished shopping everything you want will be in one "place". You may modify the number of items at any time before checking out and you may review what is in your shopping cart by clicking the basket tab at the top of your screen. Your shopping cart is set up to show only the items that you put in it yourself. When you are ready, click the checkout button. You may check out as a guest, or it is recommended that you register an account with Greenberry House so that you may track your order or contact us easily if necessary. You will then be asked to fill out shipping and payment information. Lastly you will be transferred to Paypal, if you have chosen that option, to complete the transaction. All credit card transactions are secure with Paypal and we never receive your credit card information directly. Cash is accepted at our shop or you may mail your payment to the address below.
What if my items don't show up in my shopping cart?
You must have your browser setup to allow cookies. We do not use cookies for anything except track your shopping cart number. If you need to change this setting in Internet Explorer, click on the Tools, then Internet Options, then click on the Privacy tab and click on the Edit button on the bottom of the window. You an either accept all cookies or set www.greenberryhouse.com to an 'always allow' setting. If you are still having problems, please contact us and we'll be happy to help!
What happens next?
Your order is placed directly with Greenberry House and we generally can ship on the next business day after receipt of your payment. Depending on the shipping speed chosen, most orders should be received within ten business days. We will contact you immediately if there is any difficulty in meeting these conditons.
Is my credit card information secure?
Yes, Paypal is a secure site that will handle the transaction and notify us that you have paid for the order. We will then ship ASAP.
How is payment accepted?
Through PayPal you can pay with credit or debit cards. C.O.D. only for pick-up at the shop. Orders will be shipped when we receive notice of the completed payment transaction. If you prefer to pay by check or money order, payment may be mailed to the address below and we will ship immediately upon receiving confirmation that funds have cleared our bank.
Do you charge sales tax?
We are located in Virginia and must collect 5% sales tax if we ship to a Virginia address or if items are picked up at our shop.
Do you accept international orders?
We will glady accept international orders. However, please be aware that the shipping charges shown during checkout may not be accurate for international shipments. We will do whatever we can to reduce shipping charges on multiple items.
How quickly must payment be received?
Payment by mail must be received within 14 days of the order date, or your order will be cancelled. We pay our vendors monthly and do not want to make a farmer or designer wait while their merchandise is tied up waiting for payment.
How soon do you ship once an order is placed?
Stock items ship within 1 business day of receiving full payment. We try very hard to keep this schedule, but if we will be delayed for any reason, we will notify you Shipping is typically handled via USPS and we often use Priority mail. Each item will have an associated shipping and handling cost listed with it when your order is placed.
We also operate a bricks and mortar store and occasionally may sell out of an item between updates of the web site. We strive to keep this from happening but it does sometimes occur. We will notify you immediately and issue full refunds at once.
What does 'we will reduce shipping' mean?
This means that if you order two or more items you may get a discounted shipping charge if those items can be packaged together. This discount will be reflected on the final invoice. If you have completed payment and we successfully package your items together, we will issue a credit to your credit card.
An item is showing as 'out of stock’ – what does that mean?
This means that item is out of stock at the moment and depending on the item we may or may not be able to obtain more. Many of our handmade items are unique and cannot be obtained again, but some of our dyers and farmers can produce an item again or something similar. Please bear in mind that our products are handmade and there may be significant differences between dye lots. Please check back again to see if we have your item or contact me for further information.
What is your return policy?
Items may be returned within 10 business days in original salable condition. Shipping charges will not be refunded.
