Greenberry House

Booth Spaces Available for Rent

Booth space available for small producers of quality yarns, spinning and felting fibers in unique yarn shop.  Hand spun, millspun, hand dyed, natural, roving, raw fleece, etc.  Also interested in woodworkers making spinning, knitting, or crocheting tools, and button-makers.  Preference given to Southwest Virginia and Virginia and North Carolina artisans.  Also, consignments welcome.

Greenberry House is located in a small community of unique shops that is a tourist destination on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Nearby attractions are Mabry Mill, two wineries, many festivals and other activities, Nancy's Fudge Factory, Patrick County's two beautiful covered bridges, J. E. B. Stuart's Birthplace and Fairystone State Park, among others.

This is space in the shop; what I'm working toward is building a strong base of vendors that "locally" produce fiber for spinning or felting and hand spun yarns.  Also millspun yarns from your own fibers are fine and I will consider hand dyed commercial yarns.  I am very much aware that there are not enough producers in Southwest Virginia to fill my spaces, and am more than open to folks from other areas.  I cannot accept hand crafted merchandise, however.  Mountain Meadow Farm and Craft Market is opening soon nearby and featuring local hand crafted items.

The booth space is 4 feet wide and extends to the ceiling, with floor space in front of it, and the shelving for the back of the booth is supplied by me.    Arrangement of the merchandise is up to the vendor unless distance prohibits this, but I will keep displays neat and notify vendor when stock is low.  I will also man the shop from Thursday through Monday 10-6 during the season, which normally runs April-December, if the weather cooperates.  In January, February and March I will have the shop open Friday-Sunday 10-5.

I'm also planning workshops, classes and seminars as I can arrange them.  If anyone is interested in teaching let me know!  There is a nice seating area in the shop and  we currently have a knitting group meeting at least twice a month.

I plan an advertising campaign that includes two nationwide yarn shop directories, the Virginia welcome centers near my area, newspapers and magazines in our target customer areas and some national media (Spin-Off, Ravelry.com).  I also supply insurance against fire.  The price for the booth space is $60.00 per month.  I do not charge commission on top of that, although I will have to deduct credit card fees, currently 5%, from sales.  I have no objection to two vendors sharing a space, by the way.

Consignments are a straight 30%; plus 5% if a customer uses a credit card.  You set the price, including my commission and I supply the advertising, manning the shop, rent and fire insurance from that.  Receipts from all sales are calculated and sent out the first of every month.  All vendors are responsible for supplying inventory sheets but I will work with you to help make inventory easier.
